Head coach Tim Bone said the turnover of talent was a tough aspect that came with their geographic location.
"We've got to bring in 10-11 blokes every year, otherwise we won't be able to field two teams," Bone said.
"That's the reality of it. Everyone knows we don't have the population base that some other teams have."
The Tigers have recruited travelling players from Adelaide and Melbourne into the side as has been common across the last several seasons.
Former VFL player Nick Linton headlines the list of new recruits, while teammate and ruckman Brad Graham also joins from the Essendon District Football League.
Toby Case, Matt Macullum, Daniel Sprigg and Fred Stephen are the other acquisitions.
"All of these blokes have all played a reasonable level of football," Bone said.
"They will be travelling players but that is nothing new for us, we've got to get those type of guys."
Bone said bringing in players from elsewhere had its downside.
"We bring in players from elsewhere that want to play for us but unfortunately that means they could eventually leave," Bone said.
"But that being said, we've had one bloke coming from Adelaide and this is his sixth year, so he obviously enjoys it. We've kept a lot of the guys from last year as well."
The side has retained most of last season's recruits, including Ben Jones, Stephen Craig and the club's leading goal-kicker Scott Hughes.
Jordan Zeitz, Jake Pilgrim, Lachie Pilgrim, Jesse Morano and Ed Pritchard are the senior players that have departed from last season.
Bone said his hope for improvement this season came from the clubs promising young local talent.
"We've lost five or six players but we've picked up five or six too," Bone said.
"The key for us is we've got a really good batch of young blokes locally who we are hoping can really take the next step this year.
"We're under no illusions it's going to be a competitive season and we're coming from a long way back. We'll be doing our best for the club, our supporters, volunteers and sponsors."
