Uniting Wimmera has assisted with residential support, providing a transition property for 13 weeks as well as emergency relief.
The family's neighbour Jen Giggins has also stepped in to lend a hand, organising the collection of donations which have come thick and fast from the community.
"Jen has been speaking to people on our behalf which has been really helpful," Mr Shaw said.
"The show of support from the whole community has just been absolutely incredible.

"Alex and Eli go to Horsham College and the school has been fantastic. They are looking into getting state funding to replace uniforms and books.
"We are still getting by moment to moment but there seems to be a lot of help out there which is comforting.
Mr Shaw said the house was covered by insurance.
"We have to wait for the police to rule out arson before that cover kicks in," Mr Shaw said.
