That's the opinion of Brendan Lloyd, show secretary of Wimmera Poultry Club, who will oversee the club's annual auction at Horsham Showgrounds this Sunday.
Mr Lloyd said there would be over 300 pens of birds and expected hundreds of people to come and attend. He said there would be some buyers coming from interstate to bid on the birds.
"There is one coming from NSW who is after Dick Hemley's line of leghorn birds," he said.
"Dick was a life member of the poultry club who had been a member ever since the club started, and we laid him to rest earlier this week.

"There are also sellers coming from South Australia and Mildura, so (the event) brings a bit of money into the town. It's a good thing for the young kids to get into too - it teaches them respect for animals.
"There are quite a few farmers in the region that breed and sell them too."
Mr Lloyd said the club was hoping to raise over $1200 at the auction to fund its two annual shows in June and August.
"At the shows people bring birds from interstate and get judged on a points system," he said.
"You have three different types of judges, and they'll decide which chooks are the pick of the breeds, then come together and discuss which bird is the champion bird of the show."
The Wimmera Poultry Club celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
