Both Caris, with the Victoria Country under-17s, and McDonald, with the under-19s, fell in the semi-finals, before losing their bronze medal matches.
Caris said she and all of her teammates were determined to learn from the week.
"It was disappointing to have the loss, but I think over the week we definitely improved," Caris said.
"It was a great opportunity to be in a really high performance environment and it was just such a great group environment. I am really grateful that I had this opportunity."
Caris said she was looking forward to taking what she had learned and applying it at a club level in the Wimmera Netball Association.
"I've just gained so much more experience, and trying myself in a higher competition it's opened my eyes on how much I've improved," Caris said.
"Hopefully I can bring it back to the Horsham Saints - hopefully I can just help the girls and we can get a few wins on the board."
McDonald captained the under-19s team throughout the tournament and will also hope to take that experience back to club level with the Peninsula Waves. Caris said it was valuable to have another Wimmera girl at the tournament.
"It was great to have another local girl there in Sacha," Caris said. "She really performed well in the 19s - she was at the top of her game."
