The highway was closed between Ararat and Great Western for the majority of Friday following a fatal car crash early in the morning. Great Western Football Netball Club president Tracey McCartney said the traffic issues caused by the closure did not impact the event.
"Crowd numbers were pretty strong again so it didn't seem to have any impact," she said.
Mrs McCartney said the 19th year of the event was a success.
"We were really happy with how things panned out. We couldn't have asked for any better weather," she said.
"On Saturday morning we will serve about 1000 breakfasts.
"It is a lot of hard work but it is our major fundraiser for the club and is an event people really get around."
