The McLachlan Street institution will be open from 8.30am weekdays for the next six months.
Up until now, it has been open from 10am until 5.30pm.
Wimmera Regional Library Corporation's IT and Marketing manager Leanda Elliott said the trial would follow a survey the organisation conducted in September.
"We gave people a range of different times and asked at which times they felt they would most likely come into the library. About 37% indicated the earlier hours would be ones they would use," she said.
"We've had a look at when people are coming in, and we've noticed we don't get quite as many in over the midday period.
"And especially with winter coming up, where it's going to get colder, we felt the early hours would be more convenient for people to come in.
"They can come in before they go to work, or people who are dropping off kids at school can either pop in before or afterwards if they have smaller children and want to use our children's section."
Ms Elliott said four people worked at Horsham Library, which was enough personnel to staff the library even with the extended opening hours.
"We find more people are coming in for different reasons," she said.
"Lots are coming in to use the internet and Wi-Fi, a space to sit and study, we get people who have come into town to have work done on their car, so they leave it at the garage and come to the library to spend some time.
The Wimmera Regional Library Corporation covers five Wimmera council areas, overseeing libraries in eight towns and a mobile library.
Ms Elliott said each of these libraries offered different services to their respective communities.
