Reigning premiers, the Horsham Demons, take the field for the first time this season on Thursday, and will face a Horsham Saints side aiming to recover from an opening round loss.
Horsham co-coach Deek Roberts said he was looking forward to his side's first game.
"We've trained fairly hard so I'm hoping we're about there in that first game," he said.
Despite several high-profile departures across the off-season, Horsham enter the season with a promising amount of talent and depth.
"There's a lot of headaches for me trying to squeeze everyone into a squad of 21," Roberts said. "Which is good. I didn't have this amount of depth last year."
Roberts was wary of an inspired opposition hoping to bounce back after a first round loss.
"We like to focus on our own footy but we know they're going to be tough," he said.
"They've got some really classy midfielders and every game you play is going to be close against those boys."
Horsham Saints lost by nine-points to a resurgent Minyip-Murtoa in the opening round of the season.

Coach Luke Fisher was confident of recovering from some first-round errors.
"There were just lost of basics that we needed to iron out. We had our opportunities early to put a good lead on and we just didn't take them," he said.
"It's hard to go on just form, but if we can work on those simple errors hopefully the rest of our game can come together and we can push Horsham.
"Horsham seem to bring this extra intensity every time you play them, and I'm sure they'll be keen with it being their first game. They'll be the team to beat again and hopefully we can come away with a win."
Fisher said he was excited for the chance to play on Anzac Day.
"With country footy you're always playing on a Saturday afternoon, so it's great to have the change and a credit to league for celebrating the occasion," Fisher said.
Roberts shared a similar sentiment.
"I absolutely love it. Being given the opportunity to play on a special day like Anzac Day, it means a fair bit," Roberts said.
"It's always a good game and it adds a nice little touch to it."
The teams will observe a minute's silence at a remembrance ceremony held before the match.
