Fischer, who has been football manager at the Lakers for the last decade, said after a big off-season the club was buzzing like it hadn't been in years.

But while she was sure a win would eventually come, Fischer was coy about the club's chances this weekend.

"I'm not saying a word," she insisted. "It would be lovely to see it happen, but realistically it might not.

"There's quite a few of us that have been thinking about it... But I don't want to jinx it."

With her tireless work on the committee since the late 1990s, Fischer is helping carry on a famous Taylors Lake name.

She married Colin Fischer 33 years ago - son of one of the club's founders Harold Fischer - and is now one of four Fischers on the Lakers committee.

"The club is a part of us - we will always be a part of the club no matter what," Fischer said. "We'll always be there from the start of footy at 8am, to whenever at night.

"We've seen some good times and we've also seen a lot of hard times with the club. But that just spurs us on. We're part of the club, and you have to be there for the hard times and the good times."

Now, as proclaimed by their new club mantra "Lakers on the Rise", the club is once again surging back toward those good times.

Good times that could start with a win on Saturday.

"You can feel things changing, peoples attitudes are changing," Fischer said.

"Everyone is very upbeat, especially us long serving people that have been there for a long time. We always felt that the club is going to get on the rise.

"Now the Lakers are on the rise and we are back. It is just so good for the club... Just the resurgence of it all is really brilliant."
