McDonald was one of 10 named in the Mid-South's All-Conference first team, honouring the best women's tennis players in her division.
McDonald has been a key component for Lindsey Wilson as they won their way through to the Mid-South tournament final last weekend. The final will be played on Sunday.
McDonald said while she was pleased with the honour, she was more concerned with her team's ambitions at this stage of the season.
"It was nice to get the honour, I definitely wasn't expecting it," McDonald said.
"But I haven't thought too much about it. We're just putting the team first at the moment."
McDonald showed her strength in Lindsey Wilson's semi-final win at the weekend.
After her team got off to a slow start and trailed 1-2 on the day, McDonald won her singles contest 6-2, 6-2 to bring them back to level.
The win improved McDonald's singles win-loss record for the season to a remarkable 9-1.
Her win helped propel the team onward, as they got their noses in front for the first time with the final set of the day to win 5-4.
"It was a lot closer than we were expecting," McDonald said.
"We played them last week and we beat them quite easily, but this time it came down to the last match.
"But we got the win, so that's all that matters."
The tournament final was originally scheduled to be played the following day, but rain forced the match to be postponed for a week.
The final has since been scheduled to play on Sunday morning Australian time.
"It's tough playing back-to-back days so it has probably worked out okay," McDonald said.
"I haven't really thought about the final too much. We've just been getting over the weekend and back into training. Hopefully I won't get too nervous."
A tournament win for Lindsey Wilson would qualify them for the national NAIA Women's Tennis Championships.
The college is currently ranked number one in the Mid-South division, and number 12 in the NAIA.
McDonald said qualifying for the national championships was the teams goal for the whole season. They face Georgetown in the final, who they beat during the regular season 6-3.
"We were missing our number six last time we played them as well," McDonald said. "We hope to get a win, but we have to go out there strong and play well."
