Horsham's Steffi McDonald has bowed out in the second round of the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship after an admirable performance.
McDonald's Lindsey Wilson College faced an uphill battle in the second round after being drawn to face sixth-seeded Wilson Woods University.
The young star battled for her college and won her doubles match 8-3, but lost in the singles competition, 6-5, 6-4, against her 21st seeded opponent.
Lindsey Wilson lost 5-3 to end their tournament run in Mobile, Alabama.
McDonald played an important role in her college reaching the second round.
Lindsey Wilson swept aside Northwestern Ohio, 8-1, in the first round, with the Horsham export dominant in both her games.
McDonald won her singles match in straight sets and secured an 8-4 victory in her doubles outing.
The tournament capped off an impressive first season abroad for McDonald after she was named in the Mid-South's All-Conference first team, recognising her as one of the top ten players in her division.
