The burn is taking place south east of the township, and is expected to take place between midday and 6pm.
The authority said residents may be affected by smoke.
It follows four planned burns taking place in Little Desert National Park on Thursday. More than 1600 hectares have been burnt around Elliots Track, East West track, Dahlenburg's Mill track and Mallee track.
"The objective of these internal break burns is to develop fuel reduced areas of sufficient width, about 200m and continuity to reduce the speed and intensity of bushfires," a spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said for more information on planned burns, residents could visit ffm.vic.gov.au/plannedburn.
