Horsham came out of the blocks strong and held control of the game, not losing the lead once in the 61-42 victory.
Demons co-coach Amanda Worth said she was proud of how her team coped with a tough challenge.
"We definitely didn't take Dimboola lightly at all, they are a strong team, and we were expecting a really tough match," she said.
"It was good our girls came out firing at the start, which is what we asked them to do.
"They played four consistent quarters and built on each one, which was really pleasing."
It was a tight affair in the first half, with Rhiannon Butler pulling the strings well for Dimboola in the middle of the court.
Only seven goals separated the two sides at half-time when the rain started to affect the play.
"I don't know whether the girls had played in rain like that for a very long time, so the last quarter was probably a lot slower than what we're used to playing," Worth said.
"It was a bit slippery, and a bit messy, but the girls adjusted well and they ran out the four quarters, which is what we asked them to do."
Horsham's attacked coped best with the changing conditions, bagging 36 goals in the second half.
Romi Miller stood out in only her second A Grade game for Horsham, scoring 22 goals to celebrate what was her 18th birthday.
Miller is one of the Demons' young brigade performing admirably in the absence of experienced players through injury.
"We've had a few injuries lately so the young ones have had to really step up and they're doing a really good job, so we're very proud of them," Worth said.
In Stawell, Minyip-Murtoa recovered from a first-quarter stumble to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
The Burras trailed by one goal at the end of the first term but broke the game apart to secure a 64-40 win.
Kirby Knight stood out for Minyip-Murtoa, with a 50-goal performance.
The Warrack Eagles survived a late Horsham Saints surge to extend their winning streak to four games.
The hosts held a comfortable 12-goal lead heading into the final term, but the Saints fought back winning the quarter 10-4.
It was a nervous end, but the Warrack Eagles held out 38-36 winners.
The Southern Mallee Giants secured their second win of the season, with a 58-16 victory against Nhill.
Amy Dodds stood out for the Giants with 32 goals, while Sinead Kuchel was the best for the travelling Nhill.
