Rostered duty officer Peter Baker said the Horsham and Green Lake units headed to an area behind the area's football field at 4.20pm.
"Something may have fallen across the battery that caused it to catch fire," he said.
"Essentially it was out on arrival, and both tankers had returned to their bases by 4.47pm. There was no damage to the caravan and minimal damage to the ute."
Mr Baker said there were no injuries, and that the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
