Two of the top three teams in the Horsham District A Grade netball competition went head to head at Harrow in the match of the round, with the Ewes making the better start to the contest.

A blistering 15-12 first term held the visitors in good stead who were able to extend the lead to four goals by the main break.

The third term was the one in which the Southern Roos were blown off the court, managing just five goals and conceding 11 as the deficit extended to 10 heading into the final term.

"We had trouble converting for most of the game," Harrow-Balmoral coach Ebonie Salter said.

"We needed to adjust a bit more to the game and style of play. They are good at stemming the flow and slowing the pace down by being patient with the ball. We took too long to adjust."

The home team was able to rally in the final term however, winning the quarter 12-5 but falling short 44-41, coincidentally the same score the from Natimuk United's 2017 grand final win over Harrow-Balmoral.

"We were really disappointed with the result," Salter said.

"We feel we had a great last quarter and we will try and focus on that as we move forward into next week.

"In that last quarter our defensive pressure right across the court filed, we started to sink our goals and have more opportunities too."

The Ewes remain undefeated in the top two teams in the competition, while the Southern Roos slumped to a second loss of the year.

"We expected to be up there with them but we still have a relatively fresh lineup," Salter said.

"Hopefully as the season pushes on and we get more comfortable and confident we can go a bit better."

In other matches on Saturday, Pimpinio was too good for Taylors Lake while a logjam was created mid-table.

Crucial wins to Jeparit-Rainbow, Kalkee and Swifts means four teams now sit on 16 points after eight rounds, setting up an intriguing back half of the year.

A shooting masterclass from Swifts' goal attack Michaela Armer helped them across the line for an upset win over Edenhope-Apsley on the road.

Armer shot 40 goals from 45 attempts at a ridiculous 89 per cent conversion rate.

"It is very handy when you have someone in form like that. You try and get it to her as much as you can and make the most of it," Swifts coach Courtney Morrow said.

A 14-6 second quarter helped the Baggies to a memorable win 50-41 win away from home.

"I think it surprised all of us that we won by that much," Morrow said.
