Starting as a mascot in his childhood, Schultz went on to forge a career as a player, a trainer and held a host of positions across the league's commission.
Now, he is on a mission to keep the league's history alive.
"I've always been interested in history. I would drive around with my parents, and they would point out football grounds. You look at it now and its nothing like what we've got today," Schultz said.
"As I grew up, some of my mates got hand-me-downs of medallions from their uncles and family, and I started to see these premiership medallions from all these different league and clubs.
"It was always in the back of my mind, but it probably wasn't until eight or nine years ago that I started to do a bit of research. I became medically unfit to work, and I just needed something to keep the mind active, and I just needed something to keep the mind active."
Schultz has collected photographs of old premierships medallions and football programmes, among other memorabilia.
"I became a member of a couple of different historical societies and visited a few and slowly started to compile the history," he said.
"I'm just trying to compile it all into one place, whether I get it finished or pass it on to someone else."
The league stalwart encouraged those with recollections or remnants of the league's past to share them so that history lives on.
"It's just sad that we're losing some of that history. There are people out there I hold the utmost respect for, and they're people you can get history, stories and all that from," he said. "I'm just passionate about football and local football as well and want to see it recognised."
