Punters have the chance to get close to one of Australian sport's grandest prizes when the Melbourne Cup pays a visit to the Wimmera later this year.
The 2019 Melbourne Cup Tour will stop off in Brim and St Arnaud in September, as part of a 39-destination tour.
Yarriambiack mayor Graeme Massey said he was looking forward to welcoming the cup to Brim.
"It's great to have it here because there's quite a strong racing history both in Brim and Warracknabeal," he said. "I'm very happy to see it here. It gives us a bit of recognition, and it's good to see that it goes around to the smaller communities."
Brim and St Arnaud find themselves among a list of destinations that includes Shanghai, Tokyo and Singapore.
"When Brim gets added to that list, it looks good from a long point of view doesn't it," Cr Massey said.
The tour will visit Brim on September 3, and St Arnaud the following day.
