Between Friday June 7 and Tuesday June 11 June, an unknown person or persons have attended the complex's main gated entrance on Lower Main Street also known as Seaby Street, Stawell.
Sergeant Eddie Malpas said the heritage-listed "ticket booth" has had 6 or 7 bricks damaged by a large unknown object.
"It appears that the large object has been used to strike the brickwork, causing the bricks to dislodge," he said.
"Police are seeking any information from the public with regards to the incident and identity of the offender/s. Members of the public can call the Stawell Police Station on 5358 8222 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
Sergeant Malpas said Central Park means a great deal to the Stawell Community and is home to Australia's most famous foot-race.
"It is extremely disappointing to think that someone out there thought it reasonable to damage the ticket booths," he said.
"I'm confident that someone in the community has information that could lead to the identity of the offenders. As such, I'm asking people to come forward and assist us with this investigation."
Stawell's Central Park, including the sports ground, old grandstand, cast iron entrance gates, memorial stone seat, sun dial and several monuments to individual runners of the Stawell Gift is listed with the Victorian Heritage Council is historically and socially significant at a state level.
