Mrs Maddick moved from South Gippsland to take up the new role in May.
A qualified critical care nurse, Mrs Maddick also has management experience.
Prior to her move, she worked as a hospital co-ordinator at Cabrini Health, Melbourne. She also worked as a director of nursing at a private health unit in Melbourne.
She said the reason behind her move to Hopetoun was to get back to country life.
"I grew up in Melbourne but my husband Rick is from Echuca," she said.
"After we got married, we lived in Echuca for 10 years and started our family there before moving to South Gippsland.
"I returned to working in the city while we lived in a small town there."
Mrs Maddick said she was completing an honours program in psychology with Deakin University while working.
Rural Northwest Health chief executive Kevin Mills said Mrs Maddick's appointment had been beneficial.
"Being a remote rural-site, it's always difficult (managing the organisation)," he said.
"In regards to the level of time you have onboard with general practitioners and the response time around emergencies or aged care cases, it's certainly a challenge.
"Jayne's background around emergency medicine is a huge bonus for us in Hopetoun. We will look to tap into that knowledge wherever possible.
"Jayne's skillset complements our leadership team as we move into an exciting new phase in delivering outstanding care and services for our community."
Mr Mills said the organisation received a good response in terms of applications from people living in cities such as Melbourne. He said it showed people were willing to move to regional areas.
"We have been very successful with our recruiting as a whole. We had a number of applications (from all across the state) for couple of vacant positions," he said.
"It looks like we will be back to full employment in the Hopetoun campus."
