Did a pastor of a church just say, "Stop going to church"?
I sure did and I meant it. And now that I have your attention, allow me to explain.
You see I have met a lot of different people over the years who tell me that they 'go to church'.
As if going to church is just like going to a movie, going to a game, going to a show.
But you see, God's highest passion, priority and purpose for your life isn't that you go to church.
I am probably shocking and maybe even offending some religious people out there, but let me explain.
Are your days and weeks full of life, strength and victory?
God's highest passion, priority and purpose for our lives isn't that you go to a building once a week on a Sunday morning, but that we are conformed and transformed by His love and grace so that we would become more like Christ.
A light shining in a dark world. A blessing to others. Kind, generous, strong, loving, supportive, overflowing with joy all the days of our life.
We read in Psalm 92:12-15
"The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, "The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him."
Is your life flourishing right now? Are your days and weeks full of life, strength and victory?
They can be, for those planted in the house of the Lord.
Your life is like a seed and you get to choose where you plant yourself.
So, my question to you is, where will you plant yourself?
Will you plant yourself in things that in the end won't last or have any real or eternal value? Or will you plant yourself somewhere that will eventually lead to perfect satisfaction and fulfilment?
It is your decision.
This is what I will be speaking about this Sunday at Harvest Church Horsham, 17 Florence St, so come along and find out why I am telling you to stop going to church.
