The reserves player, 27, faced the tribunal after "carelessly making contact to the head" of a Horsham opponent in round six.
The Horsham player's jaw was broken in three places in the incident.
The Burras' player's season-long suspension will include finals.
The AFL Victoria Country Appeals Board reached the verdict on Thursday night, after the Horsham Football Netball Club appealed the original six-week suspension, which the Wimmera Football League's independent tribunal handed down this month.
The appeal was upheld and the suspension extended for the remainder of the season. The charge of "carelessly making contact to the head" remained.
The Minyip-Murtoa player has already missed two matches through suspension since the incident occurred in round six. Minyip-Murtoa have nine games remaining in the regular season, meaning the player's suspension equates to 11 games, plus finals.
AFL Victoria Country rules stipulate that any player or official will be de-registered if they have accumulated 16 or more matches total suspension.
A de-registered player may not play in any league in Victoria, but can appeal to AFL Victoria Country to be re-registered and have the ban overturned.
Minyip-Murtoa is sixth on the reserves ladder - one win from finals contention.
AFL Wimmera-Mallee's Stephen McQueen thanked the league's independent tribunal for their work.
"We fully support our local tribunal, that is made up of volunteers (and who) contribute their valuable time to the league," he said.
"We're certainly fully supportive of our own tribunal."
A police investigation into an alleged assault in the incident is ongoing.
