Adrian Douglas Galvin, 40, appeared in Horsham Magistrates' Court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to drink-driving.
The court heard that Galvin was driving on Curran Road, Horsham on January 5 at 2.06am, when police stopped and breath tested him.
He recorded a blood-alcohol reading of .15.
He told police at the time that he had been drinking and he knew he would be over the limit.
Defence lawyer Andrew Moore said Galvin went out for dinner and drinks at West Side Horsham with his wife.
He said Galvin's wife had driven home, but Galvin had got behind the wheel later that night.
"He has been co-operative with police and is very remorseful," he said.
Magistrates Peter Dunn fined Galvin $1000. His driver's licence was cancelled and disqualified for 15 months.
