"I hadn't really thought about that," Johnson said.
"I think I'm probably the oldest player on the team, which does sound a bit weird to say out loud."
But the young leader said she's happy to take on the role of providing guidance to her young teammates.
"I think I like it - I was really excited when I was named vice captain at the start of the year," she said.
"I hope the younger girls can look up to me in a way."
Johnson leads her young teammates by example, always keeping a positive attitude.
"I just enjoy netball. It's not about winning, it's about your teammates and having fun," she said.
"I think when you're younger you can drop your head a bit more. I try to show to keep a smile on your face and keep having fun, not to get too down on yourself if you're not playing well."
The Lakers take on Rupanyup this weekend, in a contest between the bottom two sides on the ladder.
Rupanyup's only win this season came against Taylors Lake in round one, a match that was disappointing for Johnson in more ways than one.
"I injured myself in that first game against Rupanyup, in the first quarter," she said.
"I went off and came back in the last quarter. I'd injured that ankle before and I thought it would be fine.
"I got an x-ray on Monday, it came back Tuesday and it was fractured. I was like, I probably shouldn't have played the end of that match."
But you can't blame Johnson for being desperate to return to the court. Taylors Lake trailed by just six goals heading into the last quarter, as they were chasing their first A Grade victory in a countless number of years.
"I hate watching and not playing," Johnson said.
"It was a close game right up until the last quarter, so I thought I'd be right."
Unfortunately the Lakers couldn't hold on, and Johnson faced an extended stint on the sidelines as her ankle healed.
She made her return to the court only last week, in the horrendous rain.
"It was probably the worst weather to come back to," she said. "My hands were frozen - I couldn't even fully extend them.
"But I love netball. It's a great sport and not being able to play for that long was a killer. It's good to be back."
