Launched earlier this month, the app 'Wimmera Library' will ease the process of checking out books during peak hours. The app is available on both android and apple platforms.
Wimmera Regional Library Corporation's IT and Marketing manager Leanda Elliott said users will need to enter the library card and pin detail to use the app.
Users can scan the barcode of the item using the phone's camera to borrow the book.
"You can check your account to see what you have on loan, or whether you have any reservations available," she said.
"It will assist people in borrowing items when the library is open, the app will make it easier for people to access the library's collections when attending out of hours events at libraries - they can simply borrow with their phone."
