Dozens attended the cocktail party at Horsham Regional Art Gallery and Horsham Town Hall, where an exhibition continues.
The gathering featured an official welcoming ceremony, a presentation by Wotjobaluk dancers and a screening of the film 'Marngrook - the story of Aussie Rules'.
The theme of this year's NAIDOC Week is "Voice. Treaty. Truth", three key elements to the reforms set out in the Uluru Statement from the Heart, a document agreed on by Traditional Owners from across Australia in 2017 calling for a national representative body giving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders a say in law and policy affecting them.
The Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk peoples are the Traditional Owners of the land encompassing the Wimmera.
