Northern Victoria MP Wendy Lovell visited the college on Thursday, having last month called on Education Minister James Merlino to fund upgrades to the food and technology buildings, which are more than half a century old.
Mrs Lovell said her visit had made it clear the school needed to be a "top priority".
"The Government commenced a state-wide audit of schools in 2018 and the Minister has indicated that Hopetoun P-12 is not even due for assessment until 2020. Who knows what priority the government will place on Hopetoun P-12's building needs in the scope of a state-wide audit," she said.
"When Parliament resumes I will continue to press the Government to bring forward the audit at Hopetoun P-12 College and fund the upgrade of the science and food technology building at the school."
