A holiday house at Paradise was burnt to the ground in a fire on Sunday afternoon.
Police and CFA responded to calls of a house fire on Navarre Road, Paradise at about midday on Sunday, but arrived at the property too late.
"We had a number of brigades including Navarre, St Arnaud and Stawell respond. By the time they got down there it was pretty well on the ground," CFA District 16 operations officer Neville Collins said.
"It involved asbestos so there was a bit of a contamination issue."
The property was unoccupied and was believed to be a holiday house.
Mr Collins said the fire was deemed not suspicious.
"Police and fire investigators both attended. At this stage it is not suspicious and investigations are ongoing as to the cause," he said.
"It can be difficult when the structure is completely destroyed."
