Lifelong Hornet Tim Pickert will coach the men's side for the 2019/20 Country Basketball League campaign.
Pickert said he was looking forward to returning to the top job.
"I'm very excited. It's just another step in my basketball journey," he said.
"I've done it before, so I'm excited to step back into a coaching role."
Pickert last served as Hornets coach for the 2013/14 season, before the departing Cam Bruce took on the role.
"It (coaching) wasn't really something I planned on doing this year until Cam told us that he'd pulled the pin," he said.
"I'm just excited to have another crack at it."
Pickert, 33, started his senior Hornets career at 14-years-old, and bar two years spent playing football and one year playing in Adelaide, he has spent all his time at the Horsham-based club.
This team has done a lot for me, so it's time for me to give back a bit of my time.

"It's time for me to give back. This team has done a lot for me, so it's time for me to give back a bit of my time," he said.
The Hornets fell short in their chase for consecutive Country Basketball League titles last season, bundling out in the semi-finals.
Their new coach said he was driven to better that performance and clinch his sixth championship.
"I think losing the semi-final last year still burns. It was disappointing how we went out," Pickert said.
"Anything short of winning the whole thing this year I'd be pretty disappointed with."
Central to the Hornets' recent success has been the introduction of young talent, including brothers Jeremiah and Austin McKenzie.
Pickert said that most players intended to return and that he planned to continue to integrate young players.
"We've got a really good group of kids coming through, and there's a few this year I'm going to put a lot more responsibility on and make them play a bit more of a role," he said.
"The kids just keep pushing us older guys to keep our spot, which I enjoy."
Pre-season training will start in the coming weeks, with the season expected to start around October.
