The result made it incredibly difficult for the Demons to work their way back into the top-five this season.

Horsham haven't missed finals since 2001.

Dimboola head coach Justin Beugelaar said it was an amazing win to be a part of.

"It was most definitely exciting, but it was more special for the club," Beugelaar said.

"We had a huge bunch of people in the club rooms afterwards, a whole heap of supporters to sing the song.

"It was just great to see their reaction."

Beugelaar said they had noted what was at stake for Horsham heading into Saturday.

"I said to the boys, we as a club are building, we may or may not make finals, but what we can do is impact the finals series," Beugelaar said.

"Week by week, I said that we go out there and play each game like its a final for us, and we can shake things up.

"The boys are really starting to build, and feel a lot of belief in themselves."

Beugelaar said the side's up-and-coming youth was a highlight of the win.

Remarkably youngster Hamish Sellens wasn't even born the last time Dimboola defeated Horsham at City Oval in 2002.

"He's a young kid with a lot of talent," Beugelaar said.

"Tom O'Dwyer kicked four goals as well, Jack King is another under-17s boy who was out there.

"We're giving them the exposure that they need to become great senior footballers."

Horsham now sit in sixth, two wins and a significant percentage behind the Horsham Saints, Stawell and the Southern Mallee Giants.

The Demons face Minyip-Murtoa, Nhill, Ararat and the Warrack Eagles across the final four rounds of the season.
