After trailing by four points at quarter time, the Tigers claimed the lead in the second term and never let it slip, running away to their second win of the season, 13.11 (89) to 6.10 (46).

Wet and brutally cold conditions could not dampen the celebrations at Nhill, as club faithful packed the club rooms and ensured festivities would carry on well into the night.

Nhill coach Tim Bone said it was a fantastic day for the club.

"It's just a massive result, especially considering the year that we've had," Bone said.

"As a coach you look for little things to work towards, and we put a bit of an emphasis on this one. To have not beaten them in 17 odd years, we spoke about it during the week, and we really had something to play for today.

"The amount of people in the club rooms after the siren - I've never been involved in a win with that many supporters, and that many people hanging around after the game. It was pretty special."

The win was extra sweet for Bone, who after two seasons at Nhill will pass on the senior coaching role to Jaye Macumber at the end of the season.

When asked if this was the best win of his coaching career, Bone said: "Definitely, for sure. I've never played in a win against Horsham in any grade, so to do it today with three rounds left, it's pretty special."

Bone said the win exemplified the positive direction the club was headed.

"I'm just so happy for the club. We've got a lot of young blokes that have some real ability," he said.

"I'm looking forward to the future for them.

"With Jaye at the helm, I'm just backing the club and Jaye in, and hopefully we can move onto bigger and better things next year."

Nhill's victory continued a 2019 trend of clubs breaking their hoodoo against the once untouchable Horsham Demons.

Dimboola defeated the Dees at City Oval for the first time since 2002 a fortnight ago.

The reigning premiers have lost six consecutive games, and can now look toward the 2020 season to try and bounce back from their first year without finals since 2001.
