While a Barley paddock isn't the first place you'd expect to find a black-tie function it is a staple event for the Rupanyup community.

The Barley Banquet attracts 400 people each year who come together to celebrate the community and to raise money.
The event was started in 1995 by a group of young farmers who wanted to create a social event for locals.
Since then, it has evolved to a gourmet showcase of Wimmera produce and entertainment.
The event is organised by Rupanyup Major Events and is a key source of fundraising for the community.
More than $400,000 has been raised and donated back into the community since it began 24 years ago.
This money has contributed to important projects undertaken by a range of community groups including Rupanyup SES, Rupanyup Hospital, Dunmunkle health services and Murtoa College.
Donations have also been made to the Starlight Foundation, McGrath Foundation and to the Tasmanian Bushfire Recovery.
This year's Barley Banquet will be held on October 19 - it's always the third weekend of October each year.
The location, however, changes every year.
"Farmers are kind enough to donate the paddock which is cut down in September," committee member Scott Niewand said.
"It makes for a nice setting to have the three-course lunch inside a barley crop."
The day also features outdoor bars and entertainment.
The popularity of the event is evident through ticket sales which are capped at 400 and sell quickly.
"We sold out in 15 minutes last year," Scott said.
Like any community event it wouldn't be possible without sponsors.
"The sponsor contribution is enormous," Scott said.
The Wimmera Mail Times is a proud sponsor of the Barley Banquet.
Tickets go on sale via the Rupanyup Major Events website closer to the date.
