Bywaters just beat-out Harrow-Balmoral's Ebonie Salter in an tense and exciting vote count on Monday night.

Bywaters said winning in her second season at Kalkee was a total shock.

"Very unexpected, I did not expect to poll so well," she said. "I'm pretty shocked - I thought Ebonie would definitely win."

Laharum centre Zandria Malone took a strong early lead in the vote count, earning a remarkable 19 votes after just eight rounds.

But Malone slowed in the second half of the season, while Salter and Bywaters soared. After round 13, the two were tied on 21 votes each, just one behind Malone with 22.

Bywaters then polled eight votes across the final five rounds to finish with 29 votes, one ahead of Salter on 28.

Malone finished equal third with Natimuk United's Casey Vanstan with 26 votes, while Harrow-Balmoral's Rebecca Francis won the best under-21 player after finishing fifth with 24 votes.

Melissa Beddison added to Kalkee's terrific evening, claiming the B Grade best and fairest. Beddison finished just one vote ahead of runners-up Edwina Hare from Edenhope-Apsley.

Beddison said her 11^th season at Kalkee was one of her most enjoyable yet.

"It just reflects the enjoyment I've had with netball this year," she said.

"My kids being a bit older has made it a lot easier, it's a great group of girls in the team.

"It's been really enjoyable."

Noradjuha-Quantong's Porsha Jorgensen won the C Grade best and fairest, narrowly beating out Natimuk United's Shelly Stockdale.

Jorgensen finished on 20 votes, just one in front of Stockdale, but said she wasn't nervous until the final few rounds.

"Not until about round 17, when they circled my name and were counting on the table," she said.

Jeparit-Rainbow's Chantelle Fisher and Kalkee's Kayla Hawker finished equal third with 14 votes.

Swifts Tania Crawford took home the C Reserve best and fairest in another tightly contested count. Crawford led early but it went down to the wire as runners-up from Laharum Olivia Smith kept the pressure on.

It caps off an exceptional comeback for Crawford who returned to the netball court after a 12 year hiatus.

"I didn't think I would come away with it - I'm just shocked," Crawford said.

"I decided to come out of retirement this year just to have one more go, and I've loved it."
