The production will open at the Horsham Town Hall on October 10 for a nine show run. Two shows have already sold out, with others not far behind.
Horsham Town Hall marketing officer Charee Smith said the show had set a precedent for the arts council.
"In the history of HAC performances, not just at the Town Hall but at Wesley Performing Arts Centre too, Mamma Mia! has definitely outsold any other show," she said.

"There was an incredible response to the tickets going on sale with two queues of people lined out the door before they went on sale at 10am.
"We printed off about 400 tickets that day and there was also a huge response to online sales too."
Ms Smith said she was pleased the Wimmera community was supporting its performing arts scene.
"It's a testament to the quality of HAC's shows and the universal love of ABBA's music that Mamma Mia! has been so popular. It's fantastic that the community continues to support HAC's shows," she said.
"There is no opportunity to extend the show's season because the hall is booked out for other events. The only seats available for every show now are the two back rows.
"People tend to put off buying tickets until the last minute, so I would encourage people not to wait any longer to avoid disappointment."
Horsham Arts Council president Simon Dandy said the council had been overwhelmed by the response.
"It's the nature of the show that it's been so popular - everyone loves ABBA. But I hope it also has something to do with our reputation as well," he said.
"I see theatre as something that helps people get away from their normal lives for a while. This show is going to be so much fun and people will be walking out of the theatre smiling."
The council has sold out seasons in the past, with Annie selling out in 2017.
Mr Dandy said Mamma Mia!'s cast and crew were busily preparing for opening night.
"(Co-directors) Maddi (Ostapiw) and Loucas (Vettos) are so passionate about the show. The cast and crew are doing amazing work and working so hard," he said.
"(Set designer) Ken Warrick is effectively building a two storey house on stage. It's going to look incredible."
Mamma Mia! will run from October 10 to 19. Mr Dandy said people could buy tickets from the Horsham Town Hall's website.
