And they expect this theme - sustainability - to remain a part of the festival beyond this year
Committee member Sonia Matthews said celebrity gardener Costa Georgiadis was the headline act for the festival on Saturday.
"His visit is being sponsored by Grampians Central West Waste and Resource Recovery Group," she said. "It's just been a festival in previous years to encourage people to get out of the house, and to bring a whole lot of gardening people together.
Tammy Logan of Gippsland Unwrapped - a blog about maximising resources - will present on the Sunday.
Mrs Matthews said there would be plant sellers from Bacchus Marsh, South Australia and northeast Victoria. There will also be gardening demonstrations, food vans, children activities, outdoor furniture and homewares exhibitors.
She said the Horsham Garden Club started the show, which moved to its location in the Horsham Botanical Gardens after taking place at Horsham High School in its first two years.
Fellow committee member Kylie Zeller said she expected sustainability to remain a focus of the festival in years to come. "But it won't be a theme as such," she said. "It's more being brought in this year to highlight to people there are things they can do."
Fellow committee member Michael Speirs said he knew of people coming up to Horsham from Melbourne to meet Mr Georgiadis at the festival.
The 2019 Horsham Spring Garden and Sustainable Lifestyle Festival takes place at Horsham Botanical Gardens from 9am until 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Tickets $6. Pay at event.

Wednesday
"Risky Kids" trial night at Horsham Aquatic Centre from 4pm to 4.45pm. Free trial of resilience and wellness program for five-to-twelve-year-olds.
Thursday
Boomerang Bag sewing bee at Horsham Rural City Council from 1pm until 4pm. Free. Hosted by Horsham Urban Landcare.
Nhill Show at Nhill showgrounds from 8.30am. Includes official opening at 2pm by Nhill-born Masterchef contestant Tim Bone.
