City1, Nhill 1 and Dimboola are two game winners, and last years premier Coughlin Park 1 hasn't got on the winner's table yet, in the Weekend Division 1 Pennant, while in the Midweek Division 1 Pennant, Dimboola is out to an early break with 23 points.
Remarkably Coughlin Park 1, Nhill, City 1 and Kaniva are all snapping at their heels with 16 points each.
In Division 1 Weekend Pennant, on the Horsham City carpet, the City 1 team was far too good for Coughlin Park 1, the Parkers' Billy Kemp held Ron Goudies rink to a 23 all tie, but big wins to the Daniel Gloury and Kevin Clyne skipped rinks made it a one sided result.
Nhill 1 had a comfortable win over the resurgent Horsham Golf, three solid wins of between six and nine shots would have gladdened the hearts of the club faithful as they viewed the the action from Nhill's magnificent new outdoor area.
The two clubs on either side of Nhill had a good game, Dimboola home by 11 shots over Kaniva. Ron Pyers and Geoff Gazelle had a reversal of results from the first round, but "Banger" Krahe swung it the Roos way with a 13 shot win over Alan Coad.
In this division (three) you have to give credit to all bowlers, as if there is a change to a higher side, it is the Division 3 side that has to reset, and often at the last minute, but special credit must go to Nhill and Sunnyside for mustering up 4th and 5th sides respectively to give more bowlers opportunity
Coughlin Park 2 are finding it pretty tough in Div 1, Charlie Officer is bowling his heart out to keep his team in it, but with Ivan Mills stepping back to third to support Chris Trotter as skip, and Rex Bergen as solid as ever, Sunnyside 1 look to be a pretty strong 12.
In Division 2 last Saturday, Natimuk got home over Edenhope, Bob Pritchett steering Michael Coutts, Don Hartigan and Viv Garwood home against Hughy Caldows' rink.
The old combo of Bruce Ackland and "Flung" Burchell doesn't lose to much for Edenhope, but Ron Pannans rink tipped it Nati's way.
There wre some very good Division 2 bowlers on the new Sunnyside rinks as City 2 headed down Baillie St, Dale McRae's rink having a 16 shot win over Trevor Ough's rink got last year's Division 2 Premiers back on the winner's list.
Other winners were Dimboola, Nhill 2 and Horsham Golf got a win for their new Division 2 side.
Weekend Division 3 sees the two Horsham City sides sitting ominously on top of the ladder, after wins over Coughlin Park 4 and Sunnyside 4, Edenhope 2 won the battle of the Wild West Wimmera with a nine shot win over Kaniva, and Nhill 4 beat Golf 3.
In this division you have to give credit to all bowlers, as if there is a change to a higher side, it is the Division 3 side that has to reset, and often at the last minute, but special credit must go to Nhill and Sunnyside for mustering up 4th and 5th sides respectively to give more bowlers opportunity.
The Mid Week Division 1 is really shaping up for a close season, last week there was a draw, a 6 shot win and a 13 shot win to Coughlin Park was biggest margin. A 17 shot win to Coughlin Park's rink of Faye Anderson, Jenni Smith, Alan Thompson and skip Judy Bryan was difference for the Parkers over Nhill.
When you see a rink like Col Gebert, Betty Dumesney, Rex Bergen and Jill Coutts for Sunnyside go down by one shot to their Dimboola opponents, you know they mean business on Monday mornings. Dimboola won two rinks to get an extra couple of points despite it being a 67 all draw. In the other match Kaniva got home over Horsham City 1.
In Division 2 Midweek, Natimuk, Goroke, and Serviceton are making the early pace, with the two Coughlin Park sides getting encouragement for the 2019/20 season.
