Racecourse track manager James Hibberd said despite mid-week rain, the track was shaping up nicely.
"It's sitting fairly pretty at the moment. It's got good form and it's in a good zone at the moment," Hibberd said.
"It's just about doing our homework and keeping an eye on the weather from here."
In terms of preparation, this is our biggest day outside of the Santa Day races.

Hibberd said he was hopeful of a positive official rating for the track on Sunday.
"I just keep it pretty simple and try to keep it in that good zone," he said.
"With a little rain we'll do some aeration work ... I do a thorough walk of the track and see what it needs, do the readings with racing Victoria and make sure it meets the guidelines."
Hibberd said while it was an intense day of racing, he expected the track to bounce back seamlessly after the Cup.
"In terms of preparation, this is our biggest day outside of the Santa Day races," he said.
"After the day we won't have to stay off it much, and we'll be straight into our preparation for the Santa Day races."
