The newly renamed Wimmera Committee Against Family Violence organised the Walk Against Violence, which fell during the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
Wimmera Committee Against Family Violence chairman Geoff Miller said during speeches at May Park that he was proud of the turnout, before announcing the new local ambassadors - the last under the White Ribbon title.
"These are men who are prepared to stand up and be counted in addressing the issue of male violence against women," he said. "They are men who commit to doing their bit in changing attitudes and behaviours to create a safe, equal and respectful society for everyone."
The new ambassadors will be GWMWater managing director Mark Williams, Axis Employment disability employment consultant Steven Holmes, Horsham Rural City Council's technical operations co-ordinator Shane Podolski and Victoria Police's Eddie Malpas and Josh Barnett.
Horsham Mayor Mark Radford thanked first responders to family violence and other professions working with victims, perpetrators and families.
"Husbands and fathers, we have a responsibility to the women and children in our lives," he said. " Lead your boys by your example. We have to do better."
Member for Lowan Emma Kealy said it was great to see so many people united to support the push to end violence against women and children.
"Unfortunately in our region, we have some of the highest rates of domestic violence - not just in the state, but across Australia," she said.
"It's not just today; it's every single day.
"I say to anybody out there who has been a victim: I am so sorry for what you've been through, but know you have our support."
Ms Kealy encouraged anyone from the Wimmera who wanted to become an advocate for stopping violence against women and children to create awareness where possible.
Women from Horsham Arts Council performed a moving rendition of One Voice before being involved in a visual illustration of the statistics regarding violence against women in Australia.
West Wimmera Shire will hold their walks against violence in Kaniva on November 27 from the Kaniva Men's Shed at noon and in Edenhope on November 29 from the Edenhope Lions Park at noon.
Both events will include a barbecue lunch and a guest speaker following the walk.
