Publicist for Foxtel Networks Australia Kellie Adcock confirmed the team for the program Selling Houses Australia was filming in the area.
Selling Houses Australia airs on the network's Lifestyle Channel, and involves a team of renovators transforming properties already on the market to help them sell.
Jacquie Peterson, who owns the freehold of the hotel along with partner John Consadine, said the pub reopened on Friday November 29, and the facelift had occurred in the three days prior.
"We have owned the hotel since 2006 and we tried to put it on the market about seven years ago," she said.
"We sold the lease in March 2018 to someone we thought would eventually buy the freehold, but it didn't work out, so we had to come back in and run the hotel in September last year.
"We put it back on the market pretty much straight away, and a broker contacted us asking if we'd be interested in doing a show for Selling Houses Australia, so we applied and here we are."
Mrs Peterson, who was born and raised in Kaniva, said the couple would likely put the property back on the market next week.
"Because of the show we had to take it off the market. We're looking to move on to a different stage of our lives, both our kids - Kyle and Alex - are grown up now," she said.
Mrs Peterson said she had heard from a broker that there was already interest in buying the hotel. She said the film crew arrived the week before the makeover and filmed Kaniva's surrounds.
"The response from the community was amazing," she said.
"We needed volunteers to help out with bits and pieces during the makeover - decorating stuff and different parts of styling. I was very thankful for the community we have here in Kaniva."
