Chalk Circle has donated the work of art titled "The Waterhole" to Grampians Community Health that now sits on the courtyard wall at the Stawell Health and Community Centre for the public to admire.
Chalk Circle's Bev and Diana Issac originally painted the artwork in the foyer of Ararat Regional Art Gallery with Marion College art students Ayesha Nicholson, Jack Alexander, Jonah Dickinson, Jasmine Jagan, Ella Rudolph, and Priscilla Chami.
It was partially sponsored by the Gallery and the WAMA Foundation.
Designed as the centre-piece of a children's activity for the "Animalia Australis" exhibition, it was displayed in the foyer for eight months. Children were encouraged to play with animal and bird cut-outs, blu-tacking them on it where-ever they chose.
When the exhibition closed the work was returned to Chalk Circle's studio where it was restored, reworked and weather/UV-proofed.
Due to its size, approx. 4.6m x 1.8m, "Waterhole" needed to find a new home. Reluctant to sell a partially sponsored work and wanting to it be in public view, Chalk Circle decided to donate the work to Grampians Community Health.
The mural was installed in the sunken courtyard at the north end of the Stawell Health and Community Centre building where it can easily be viewed by the public.
Grampians Community Health's chief executive Greg Little thanked Chalk Circle for their generous donation to the community and said he hoped the Waterhole would continue to be enjoyed by all people who use the space.
"If you are passing by GCH in Stawell, take a 'selfie' in front of the mural, post on social media and tag @GrampiansCommunityHealth and @ChalkCircleAtBigHillArt we will love to see your photo!," Mr Little said.
