Students at The Hamilton and Alexandra College are encouraged to work hard and follow their passions.
Every student passed their VCE and over 20 per cent of VCE students scored ATARs above 90. The average ATAR score was 76.1 - enabling each student a plethora of tertiary options. The college community is proud and excited for the Class of 2019.
Congratulations to the school Dux, Nihindu Ranasinghe who scored 99.65, placing him in the top one per cent of Victoria. Nihindu also scored a perfect 50/50 study score in mathematical methods.
Principal Dr Andrew Hirst said while learning remains the core focus, the school is committed to achieving high academic performance while simultaneously providing students with 'connectedness in life' and a strong appreciation for the importance of respect, gratitude, compassion, resilience and optimism.
"Given the recent alarm about the nation's decline in english, mathematical and scientific literacy, our VCE success is a tribute to our diligent students, our specialised teaching staff, focus on student wellbeing, high expectations and academic assistance," Dr Hirst said.
"We seek the best for and from every student. Every student is known by their name and their interests. It also provides an accessible platform for students to try new and different pursuits."
