Mitch Creek pledged to donate $100 for every three-point shot and $200 for every dunk his South East Melbourne Phoenix side made against the New Zealand Breakers on Sunday.
The South East Melbourne made 10 three-pointers in their 92-97 loss against the Breakers late on Sunday afternoon.
The former Horsham Hornet also auctioned off a pair of custom game-worn shoes for $4,000.
The donations will be split between the Country Fire Authority and the Salvation Army Disaster Appeal fund.
Creek implored others to join him in his fundraising efforts.
"If you can help, jump on board and make a promise with me," he shared on social media.
The Phoenix captain implored others to dig into their pockets.
"We've got it easy, we're playing basketball. Other people don't have homes, don't have food, have lost lives and animals and pets and everything they've ever had," Creek said before the game.
"I'm just trying to help out as much as possible. What we're going through is absolutely devastating.
"If everyone can pull through and do the same thing, try and donate and jump on board. Match it, or (donate) 10 per cent, 10 bucks or 10 cents. I don't care what it is, get in your pockets and give back, because we're all hurting right now."
Fellow Horsham export Shaun Bruce also played for the cause in the Sydney Kings' 91-77 win against the Adelaide 36ers on Saturday night.
Bruce - alongside Kings teammates Brad Newley and Xavier Cooks - pledged to donate $50 for every point scored to the Red Cross bushfire relief fund.
The former Horsham Hornet's seven-point haul and his teammates' contributions saw $2850 raised for the cause.
Bruce took to social media to throw his weight behind the relief efforts.
"Privileged to be in a position to do this and hats off to everyone doing their part," he shared on Twitter.
Horsham's basketball duo join a chorus of Australian athletes in a cross-code fundraising effort.
Edenhope-Apsley exports Tom and Oscar McDonald joined teammates from the Melbourne Demons in creating a fundraising campaign for victims.
Creek and Bruce's NBL colleague and highly-touted NBA draft prospect LaMelo Ball pledged a month of his salary to victims of the bushfires.
Tennis star Nick Kyrgios has committed to donating $200 per ace across the Australian summer, and was joined in the initiative by fellow compatriots, including Alex de Minaur, John Millman and Sam Stosur.
