The duo will compete with Victoria Country's under-18 side at the Australian Junior Basketball Championships in April, taking on Australia's best junior basketballers.
They were selected after impressive performances at the Australian Junior Basketball Country Cup in Albury last week.
The selection is extra sweet for Breuer, who will play for Victoria Country for the first time. He said familiarity and confidence had helped his basketball improve.
"Making the team feels a lot different now," he said.
"It's probably just my confidence (that has improved) over the years. Knowing more people and knowing the coaches, it helps a lot.
"It helps you relax during the games, and have the confidence to take charge on the court."
The 2020 iteration of the tournament will be hosted in Ballarat, providing a "home court" feel for the duo.
"Because we're both down there for school, we train there three times a week," Breuer said.
"It's like our home court, which is pretty exciting."
McKenzie has played with Victoria Country several times before. He said he was hoping for team success.
"Two years ago in the same group we came runners-up to Vic Metro by about 10 points," he said. "I didn't play with a broken thumb, but hopefully we can get over the top of them this time."
The duo will be coached by fellow Horsham product Shane McDonald.
McKenzie said he enjoyed playing under the former Horsham Hornet.
"The way (McDonald) conducts it all is unreal. It's so professional," McKenzie said. "I reckon it will just be a really good experience, and hopefully we go pretty far in the competition."
McDonald said the side had a lot of potential.
"We have a selfless team that already have outstanding chemistry on and off the court, and are excited to test themselves on the national stage," he said.
Horsham Basketball Association president Owen Hughan said he was "very proud" of McKenzie and Breuer.
"It's a huge achievement. They've put in a lot of time to reach that standard and they deserve the chance," Mr Hughan said. "We're very, very proud of them."
