The top of the table clash between Kaniva and Horsham City 1 was a bit of a fizzer, the Tatiara team was too good for the City Slickers on the slick Kaniva green, hoisting a hundred in a 45 shot win. Closest rink was a 1 shot win to Kaniva's Ian Austin, Brenda Hawker and Col and Dianne Maddern (s) over the powerful City combination of Trevor Wood, Stewart Landwehr, Geoff Inglis and Betty Cozens (s).
Coughlin Park 1 is sitting in third spot, but a couple of good rink wins from top spot after a regulation victory over bottom side Nhill. The Parkers won two of the three rinks and will welcome top team Kaniva to its beautiful grass greens next round in a match which will have a big bearing on who gets the double chance.
Dimboola is sitting in fifth spot after losing to Sunnyside 1 by 22 shots, and have a pretty tough run home. Sunnyside took 3 and 4 shot wins on the rinks skipped by Norma Hair and Jill Coutts, but the 15 shot win to Paul Southcott, Ross Barnett, Elaine McFarlane and Mavis Janetzki was the big difference.
This Monday Sunnyside 1 travel to Nhill, Dimboola host Horsham City 1, and Kaniva head down the highway to Coughlin Park in Midweek Division 1.
Midweek Division 2 has been thrown wide open by Serviceton coming back to the field after consecutive losses, and the surge of Goroke. Goroke and Serviceton each won a rink, but a 15 shot margin to Nadine Stacey, Merle Burns, Les Burns and Bev Hadden (s) helped Goroke to an 11 shot win.
Natimuk went down by 8 shots to Horsham City 2, the City combo of the Leyonjhelms and Lehmanns won by 12 shots over Leisa Uebergang, Janette Sudholz and the Browns to outweigh a 4 shot win for Nati's Jan Innes rink.
The third win of the season for Edenhope, by 32 shots over Coughlin Park 3. Coughlin Park 2 consolidated third spot with a 40 shot win over bottom side Sunnyside 2, with the rink skipped by Carmel Officer contributing 30 of those shots.
In the next round, some more crucial matches, Natimuk will be out to inflict Serviceton's third straight loss, the two Coughlin Park sides clash, Goroke can further consolidate its spot in the four when they travel to Sunnyside, and City 2 will host Edenhope.
