The blitz is part of the statewide Operation Amity, which will run from midnight on Friday to midnight on Monday January 27.
Acting Senior Sergeant McIvor, of Horsham Highway Patrol, said: "Our main focus is on impaired motorists, preventing drink and drug-affected driving."
"There will be an abundance of police vehicles and number of random breath test sites at major towns on the Western Highway, which will be our main focus."
Acting Senior Sergeant McIvor said in light of a fatal car and truck crash at the Giant Koala tourist area at Dadswells Bridge, drivers from overseas were of particular concern to the force.
"We would expect if you drive on our roads you have the necessary training to drive safely, particularly with regards to wildlife and road rules including driving on the left hand side," he said.
"It is not up to police to educate or train international drivers, it is incumbent on them."
