The junior Victoria Country representative has spent the past months training with his new club in his efforts to earn a place on the playing list.

"I've been down there now for nine weeks, doing the whole pre-season. It's kind of sunk in now, and it's a good feeling. I'm pretty excited. I feel like I've made a good move," Martin said.

"They're coming off a premiership, and they've got a lot of good players. It's a pretty welcoming club. Obviously, all they care about is winning so I'm looking forward to it.

"They've got a lot of ex-AFL players, so it will be a good experience for where I want to head to."

Delisted Melbourne winger Billy Stretch and West Coast Eagles utility Matthew Allen have signed alongside Martin for Glenelg's 2020 campaign.

Martin has relocated to Glenelg but has been returning on weekends to line up for the Horsham Hornets.

The 18-year-old's move to the Tigers continues a long-held connection the club holds with the Wimmera.

Former Horsham Demon Chris Curran captained Glenelg to a premiership last season before he departed the club in the off-season due to work commitments.

Minyip-Murtoa premiership player Tim Mackenzie and Stawell coach Tom Eckel have also spent time with the club.

Martin said the move was a good opportunity to develop his football.

"It's obviously going to show where I'm at footywise," he said.

"Coming from the NAB League, where other players are my age, my ability and my strength, it will be good to come up against bigger, better players to see what I really need to work on.

"Hopefully I can go out and play the top league I can. If not, then twos. But I'm going down there to play the best league I can, and hopefully, I can play well and get my name out there."
