DA: Definitely excited. We haven't had too many opportunities for a win this year so we are definitely keen.

We've only won two games for the year, and Bullants are a fairly good team. I don't want to jinx ourselves, but it would be great to beat them.

How have you guys been finding it in A Grade this season?

It's definitely different to B Grade. Some of the better from B Grade can compete, but in B Grade last year the bottom teams were a lot lower. In A Grade this year there are no poor teams. There's no easy bowlers to face, everything is tough. Every team is good, which makes it tough for us.

Have you been enjoying the challenge?

I have, definitely. I was really keen to go up to A Grade. I wanted to challenge myself personally, and a lot of the guys were the same.

How have you gone, firstly with the bat this year?

I started off not too bad. Recently I haven't made many runs. With the Twenty20's, that's not really my game. I've really struggled a bit recently with that. So I started off okay but have really dropped off a bit.

Not much of a big hitter?

Not at all. I'm more of a blocker, hang around there. I don't have a good strike rate at all which doesn't really suit Twenty20.

You've been going alright with the ball though - took three wickets last week against Noradjuha-Toolondo to put you guys in a good position?

Yeah I was pretty happy with the way I bowled last week. It's been going okay. I don't think I've taken a bag of wickets, probably less than 10 for the season which isn't amazing. But I've been bowling consistent areas. In A Grade you have to bowl really good deliveries to get batsman out. They don't give it away easily.

If you pitch too short you're going to get smacked, too full you'll get smacked. You have to try and just keep it in that good area.

Going back a little bit - I imagine you were locked in to play at Colts from a very early age considering your Dad Dean's connection to the club?

Yeah definitely. Dad loves his cricket. He'd retired before I started playing, then when I decided I wanted to start playing cricket he came out of retirement to play some games with me.

And he's still playing now. That was over 10 years ago I reckon.

I know Colts have a little bit of a rough trot with their grand final record - have you managed to play in a premiership with the club?

Yeah we won a B Grade flag I think three years ago, and I was a part of that.

Was that alongside Digger? Was that pretty special?

It was very special. He loved it. I'm a bit surprised he didn't retire after that actually, because that's what he really wanted to achieve.

His father - my grandfather - was there watching us as well. That was very special for both of us. He was pretty sick at the time with cancer, and was told he didn't have too long to live. But he really wanted to make it down to watch us play, and he watched us win a grand final. So it was special for everyone.

How did you perform on the day?

Uh, no good. I think I made a duck. I took a few wickets though. It was against the Saints and I'm pretty sure I got Davo (Gary Davidson) out. He was a pretty key wicket.

It was getting towards the end of the game, he was still in and they only needed about 30 runs to win. Luckily I got him out with about 20 runs to spare, we got a couple of wickets after that and got the win.

Was it a peach of a delivery to get him?

Nah it was absolute crap. I'm pretty sure it was short, it was slow, it was pretty terrible but he hit it straight to the fielder. He tried to pull it to the boundary and hit it straight to square leg. But I guess it got him out. That's cricket I guess.
