The Warracknabeal-raised player spent the past two seasons completing seven-hour round trips to play for his home club in the Wimmera league.
Now the Geelong-based primary school teacher is preparing to travel up the Princes Highway each weekend after signing with Warrnambool and District league club Old Collegians.
Peters, 24, believes the two-hour drive will fly by with new teammates Sam Weston, Ben Hunt and Chay Deary as passengers.
Weston, Hunt and Deary, who also live in Geelong, have committed to the Warriors too after stints with Mininera and District league club Penshurst.
"I haven't played footy with them before so I thought I'd jump onboard," Peters said.
"We'll jump in the car. It's only a couple of hours up the road."
Peters attended his first training session at Davidson Oval on Friday and is eager for practice matches to start next month.
The utility will miss round one against Panmure due to a friend's wedding but is counting down to round two against Dennington.
"I am looking forward to trying something different - new environment and new people that was the lure," Peters said.
"I can't wait to get into it to be honest. I missed a bit last year with a few injuries."
Peters has lived in Geelong for six years since moving from Warracknabeal for university. The Nazareth Catholic Primary School teacher spent three seasons at Bannockburn before re-joining Warracknabeal.
"I have all my family back there and a few mates so I travelled back there to have a kick," he said.
"It's a fair hike but I enjoyed it. It was really good getting back there and seeing the family and I enjoyed that community side of things.
"That's what drew me to Collegians too, it seems like a good community club."
