Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly will celebrate 12 months of sporting excellence and crown its annual Sport Star of the Year on Friday night.

A diverse list of nominees includes sportspeople with achievements in football, Ironman, equestrian, triathlon, aerobics and tennis.
Among the eight nominees is endurance athlete Kelly Miller. Miller finished as the best Australian in her age group at the Half Ironman World Championships in September, among other achievements.
Miller said she enjoyed the chance to reflect upon the last 12 months alongside her family, friends, and other sports stars from across the Wimmera.
"It's nice to be invited to go along with other athletes from the Wimmera to celebrate everyone's achievements," Miller said.

Miller was initially nominated for the sports star of the year award in May, after she achieved a personal best at an Ironman Australia event in Port Macquarie, and qualified for the Ironman World Championships.
Miller then completed a lifelong dream by competing at the World Championships in Kona, Hawaii in October.
"It's been a really exciting year. I've been really lucky to be able to travel all over the world with the sport," Miller said
"I'm really looking forward to Friday and hearing what everyone else has achieved throughout the year and having a celebration with family and friends."
Past winners of the sports star of the year award include Wheelchair Basketballer Jannik Blair, footballer Damien Skurrie, Cycling star Jason Niblett, and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Alethea Sedgman.
The 2019 winner was Horsham's teenage tenpin bowling star Sophie Martin.
In addition to the sports star of the year award, there are a multitude of other awards honouring teams, coaches, clubs, sportsmanship, umpires and many more.
Olympian and Paralympian Melissa Tapper will be the guest speaker on the night.
Tapper became the first Australian athlete to qualify for both the Olympics and Paralympics in 2016, competing in table tennis.
FULL NOMINEES
Jess McDonald, tennis - Earned a scholarship to play in the college system at Blue Mountain College in the United States.
Ella Walsgott, triathlon - Vice captain of Victoria at the School Sport Australia Triathlon Championships.
Kelly Miller, ironman - Achieved a personal best at an Australian Ironman event in Port Maquarie in May, and competed at the Ironman World Championships.
Jaya Meadows, aerobics - Won her first national gold medal in a singles division.
Brody Pope, football - Won a gold medal with Victoria at the School Sport Australia championships.
Mitch Martin, football - Named on a half-forward flank in the NAB League team of the season, and signed with Glenelg in the SANFL.
Morgan Lane, pony club - Competed with her country at an international showjumping event in China.
Nekaela Butler, AFLW - Butler was drafted into the AFLW at pick 55 by the Richmond Tigers at the 2019 AFLW National Draft.
