Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly celebrated 12 months of sporting excellence and recognized a diverse list of nominees includes sportspeople with achievements in football, Ironman, equestrian, triathlon, aerobics and tennis.
Up against seven other nominees, endurance athlete Miller said it was "amazing" to be recognised for the Wimmera award.
"I was born in Horsham and to be standing up at the age of 40 to win the sports star of the year is a thrill," she said.
"I feel on top of the world. I'm still shaking.
"I need to thank everyone who has supported me to help the dream come alive."
Miller said she enjoyed the chance to reflect upon the last 12 months alongside her family, friends, and other sports stars from across the Wimmera.
"Dreams come true, even at the age of 40," she said.
"Tonight I feel it's a celebration of everyone's hard work - whether you are a coach, athlete or a parent or a child - it's a team effort.
"Even though Ironman and triathlon is an individual event, it really is a team effort.
"I wouldn't be here without the support of my family.
"I found a passion about six years ago. That was to swim, cycle and run. There is so much emotion that goes into that and when I race I bring all that emotion into my race."
"Next weekend I'm off to Geelong half Ironman," she said.
"I've qualified for the world half Ironman Championships at New Zealand in November.
"I'm working hard to get back to Kona, Hawaii. I need to race at a full Ironman event to be able to qualify for that."
Full list of winners to come.
