Six father and son combinations created history, named together in a 16 man squad. Rhymney-Moyston won game that was a decider, the winner to play in the 2019-20 finals series.
Despite what was on the line, the club felt it was the perfect opportunity to demonstrate it's core values and promote a family-friendly environment.
David and Glen Cosgriff, Trevor and Nathan Quick, David and Brady and Jaxon Turner, Graeme and Chris and Matthew Robinson, Barkley and Teague Vincent and Ron and Matthew Dean made up the father and son combinations.
Barkley Vincent said it wasn't the first time he played with his youngest son, but it was certainly "very special" to be part of the day.
"It's something we've been talking about for quite a few years," he said. "We've tried to do various versions of it and also got washed out a few weeks ago as well. We want to show what our club is about. It's about still being able to have a go when you're a bit older and still play hard cricket but have some fun.
"It's a fantastic family environment where I feel comfortable with my 14-year-old son coming out here and I know he will be treated exactly as I would treat him in a safe environment.
"Today is pretty special, it really is. It's only when you sit back and look at the thing as a whole. Some of us play with our sons all the time - but for everyone to play all together at once is fantastic."
Playing more than 450 matches in the GCA and more than 200 matches for Rhymney-Moyston, Trevor Quick said playing on Saturday as part of the history-making game was an unbelievable experience.
"Our club prides itself on being a really good family club and a happy club to play against," he said.
"To see all of the father and son combinations out there is fantastic.
"We've had the sons catching for the fathers in the field which was pretty special."
Mr Quick's son Nathan was able to snare two catches in the field for his father.
"It's all about enjoying the day," he said.
"Whoever won the game played finals. But it didn't seem like that. It was just a really good relaxing day."
GCA president David Turner participated in the day and said it was a fantastic concept for promoting the game within the region.
"It's a rare occurrence," he said.
"It was a squad to make up the numbers as you can't put them all in the side. You could see the buzz around the club about what the day means to us all."
