Stawell Athletic Club committee is concerned about the impact of the COVID-19, also known as coronavirus, but are following official advice from the government.
With bushfires and fears of coronavirus tainting tourism for the season, club president Neil Blizzard said considerations were taken on board when planning the event for Easter.
"Recommendations from the government state that everything should be fine," he said.
"We've requested advice and recommendations but we haven't received an official response as yet.
"The Gift is 100 percent on target as it always is. After 139 years we know how to get it right."
Mr Blizzard said after factoring in a "bit of a hit" with ticket sales due to what's happening or happened across the country in recent months, pre-ticket sales were exceeding expectations.
"We had to factor in a little bit of a drop - you can't not expect it," he said.
"Even people who weren't impacted, but might have donated to the bushfires, don't have the ready cash to be spending around the traps."
